Agradaa Recounts Grueling Prison Labour, Says She Carried Heavy Blocks Daily and Received No Special Treatment
Evangelist Patricia Asiedua, widely known as Agradaa, has spoken publicly about the difficult conditions she says she endured while serving time in prison, rejecting claims that her public profile earned her preferential treatment.
Speaking in a video that has since gone viral on social media, the founder of Heaven Way Champion International Ministry revealed that she was assigned physically demanding labour after spending nearly a year behind bars.
According to Agradaa, inmates serving longer sentences are typically kept inside the prison for an extended period before they are considered for outdoor work assignments. Once she qualified, she said her daily routine involved carrying heavy concrete blocks repeatedly between different sections of the prison.
Agradaa explained that the exhausting workload eventually affected her health, describing the labour as one of the toughest experiences of her life.
“It wasn’t easy at all. We carried blocks from inside the prison to the outside, and when returning, we carried another block back inside. We repeated the process over and over again. It was very difficult,” she said.
She also responded to rumours suggesting she had never actually been imprisoned. According to the evangelist, many people questioned whether she had served a prison sentence because she appeared healthy after regaining her freedom.
“When I came out, I heard people saying I was never in prison. I simply smiled because I know it was only by God’s grace that I came back looking the way I do,” she stated.
Reflecting on the experience, Agradaa said she faced emotional and physical hardship that, in her view, was intensified by the attention she received as a well-known public figure.
“The pain I went through in prison wasn’t what everyone experienced because all eyes were on me from the day I arrived,” she said.
Despite the challenges, Agradaa said she has chosen to move forward without dwelling on the past. She expressed gratitude to God for helping her through the difficult period and added that receiving special treatment because of her fame would not necessarily have worked in her favour, suggesting it could have prolonged her stay behind bars.
