“People Could Have Lost Their Lives” – Shatta Wale Defends Police Action at ShattaFest

Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale has praised the UK police and local council for intervening in the chaos surrounding ShattaFest UK.

Speaking during a TikTok Live on August 2, 2026, Shatta Wale said he had warned his team that problems could arise because of how the event was being organised.

According to the musician, he noticed signs of poor planning even before arriving at the venue and believed authorities were likely to step in.

Shatta Wale claimed the organisers decided to merge Ghana Party in the Park with ShattaFest UK, a move he described as being driven by greed.

“I told my team and even my wives that the UK police would come around because of the way the organisers had planned the event. It was greed that made them merge Ghana Party in the Park with ShattaFest UK,” he said.

The “On God” hitmaker also accused the organisers of failing to honour parts of their agreement, including arrangements to bring members of his team to the UK.

Shatta Wale said he was ultimately grateful that UK authorities intervened, arguing that public safety should come before financial gain.

“I thank the UK police, the council and everyone who stopped this show. Why would you want people to come and lose their lives because of what you want to gain?” he questioned.

He further criticised aspects of the event setup, saying his own concerts are usually organised under stricter standards.

ShattaFest UK was eventually cancelled following a serious incident outside the venue.

Shatta Wale maintains that the intervention by UK police and the local council may have prevented the situation from becoming more dangerous.
