Belgian-Ghanaian attacker openes the scoring but Gremio fall to derby comeback

Francis Amuzu strikes early but Gremio fall to Internacional derby comeback.

Belgian-Ghanaian attacker Francis Amuzu opened the scoring but could not stop Gremio slipping to a 4–2 defeat against Internacional in a thrilling Gre-Nal derby in the Gaucho.

Amuzu struck after just five minutes, racing onto a through ball and finishing low past Sergio Rochet to silence the Beira-Rio crowd and put Gremio 1–0 up.

However, Internacional hit back quickly when Marcos Rocha diverted a cross into his own net on 10 minutes, levelling the match and setting the tone for an end-to-end contest.

Gremio briefly reclaimed the lead midway through the second half as Edenilson finished a flowing move to make it 2–1, but the game turned dramatically in the final 20 minutes.

Rafael Santos Borré struck twice in quick succession on 74 and 76 minutes, before Alexandro Bernabei lashed home an 83rd‑minute fourth to complete Internacional’s comeback. Despite the loss, Amuzu continues to settle well at Gremio, with 4 appearances, 2 goal and 0 assists so far in the 2025/26 Serie A campaign.

Gremio must now quickly regroup before travelling to Rio de Janeiro to face Fluminense at the Maracanã in Serie A action, a key test in their congested early‑season schedule.
